With Google for Entrepreneurs on Board, Manos Accelerator Starts Search for Batch Two

Manos Accelerator is here to stay and in search of its next batch of Latino-led startups, and Google for Entrepreneurs is along for the ride.

Manos Accelerator is here to stay, and Google for Entrepreneurs is along for the ride. The California-based acceleration organization designed especially for Latinos has announced that it has extended its partnership with Google for the next two years. Moreover, it has set out to find its next batch of startups.

Launched in 2013, Manos Accelerator aims to provide better opportunities for Hispanic and Latino entrepreneurs, a group that is largely underrepresented in the startup community (not to mention underfunded). The entity works out of San Jose and provides program participants with an unprecedented opportunity to access all that Silicon Valley has to offer. “We want to create a vibrant community of Latino entrepreneurs that attracts the brightest and most talented,” explained Edward Avila, co-founder and CEO of Manos, when the organization launched last year.

So far, Manos has worked with seven companies, having selected its inaugural class last September. The group was certainly a notable one, with two of the startups hailing from Latin America and an impressive five having at least one female founder.

And now, Manos Accelerator has launched the search for its second batch of projects. It will select 10 startups to take part in its next process, slated to take place from June through August of this year. Submissions are being accepted now through April 30thyou can apply here.

The program seeks to connect Latino entrepreneurs with mentors and resources to help them scale their companies. It offers intensive coaching and mentorship, provides a collaborative workspace, and provides access to opportunities to engage with leading entrepreneurs, executives and service providers. The 12-week acceleration culminates in a Demo Day in Silicon Valley.

Of course, the involvement of Google for Entrepreneurs is quite a boost as well. Avila reflected in the partnership extension announcement:

We are thrilled to see this partnership continue with a multi-year commitment. Gaining access to Latino founders, top-notch mentors and a network of entrepreneurial professionals is the foundation of Manos Accelerator. Our partnership with Google for Entrepreneurs enables us to continue our efforts to discover and support top Latino talent from all corners of the world to build innovative companies.

Mary Grove, Director of Google for Entrepreneurs, added:

Manos Accelerator is doing exceptional work to nurture and showcase startup talent in the Latino community from across the U.S. and Latin America. We are excited to be part of their ongoing journey and help increase the number of Latino entrepreneurs in the global tech community.

Manos Accelerator has slated two acceleration programs for this year as well as two more for 2015. Learn more about the organization and apply to take part at http://www.manosaccelerator.com.
