Confrapar’s NascenTI Invests in School Cafeteria Software Developer Easy Food

It’s apparently been a busy couple of weeks for Confrapar.

Having recently announced a capital injection of up to US$2.5 for game developer Ilusis (by way of HorizonTI), the organization has revealed another major funding decision in the Brazilian market. Confrapar will invest over US$1 million (R$2.3 million) in Easy Food, a developer of software for school cafeterias.

NascenTI, Confrapar’s funding arm dedicated to projects based in Rio de Janeiro, made the investment. Easy Food has previously been backed by Lab22 and Gávea Angels.

Easy Food offers two main products – Canteen, a cafeteria management software, and Card One, a food purchasing card that works in conjunction with the Canteen system. To date, over 17,000 students purchase their meals using Card One.

The Easy Food system operates in more than 20 schools in four Brazilian states. The startup’s main focus is on parents, who it helps monitor what their children are eating while at school, implementing restrictions and limitations when necessary.

With the funds received from NascenTI, Easy Food will expand its sales team and, in turn, commercial scope. The startup has set a goal of reaching 500,000 students in 10 states by 2015.

To expand internationally, Easy Food needs to receive an estimated US$2.5 million (R$5 million) over the next five years.
