Building an app in Latin America? Then you’ll want to keep an eye on Brasilia this week. Starting on Thursday, the city will be the host of the Brazilian Application Seminar, better known as BRAPPS.
BRAPPS brings together developers, entrepreneurs, executives, journalists and investors from all over Latin America to focus on one major theme: mobile content. It will feature presentations and discussion panels with the participation of mobile experts from throughout the region as well as an expo space and special activities for entrepreneurs, developers and startups.
Three Days, Six Themes
The main three-day conference agenda will focus on half-day sessions centered on six major themes considered crucial in the mobile market:
– Mobile Commerce and Mobile Payment
– Mobile Games
– IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
– Entertainment, Media and Ads
– Education and Training (MoSoLo – Mobile Social Location)
– Digital Entrepreneurship and Investments
Each session will feature a number of presentations and panels on various issues related to the larger theme, during which top professionals will share their ideas and viewpoints – and the list of speakers for this year’s edition of BRAPPS is impressive, to say the least.
Dozens of professionals with experience and expertise in business, innovation and the mobile realm are confirmed to speak at BRAPPS, including Gustavo Caetano of SambaTech, Claudio Roca of Buscapé Company and Patrick Riley of the Global Accelerator Network. See the full list of speakers here.
Opportunities for Up-and-Comers
As with most tech events, BRAPPS will also focus on content for up-and-comers in the ecosystem.
Sixty startups (20 per day) will be provided booths in the expo space of BRAPPS to show off their products and services and network with potential partners and investors. Taking a bit of a cue from TechCrunch Disrupt, BRAPPS organizers have dubbed the expo Startups Alley.
Developers, engineers and hackers will also take advantage of the BRAPPS Hackathon. The 72-hour challenge will have a special focus on building apps for tourists during the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games. Winning teams will be selected and announced at the end of BRAPPs on Saturday, and a special award will go to the top team that develops for BlackBerry 10.
BRAPPS will take place from April 25th – 27th at Opera Hall in Brasilia. The event has been organized by Grupo Latin and is sponsored by Sebrae, BlackBerry, Buscapé Company and Correio Braziliense.
