After much anticipation, Start-Up Brasil officially opened startup inscriptions on Monday. The search is now on for 100 new and innovative companies to join the initiative’s very first edition.
The program is open to national and international companies that have been in business for up to three years. It seeks out startups developing innovative products or services using software tools and IT services as part of the solution proposed.
Selected projects will receive US$100,000 (R$200,000) in public funding as well as between US$10,000 (R$20,000) and US$500,000 (R$1 million) in private investments. The latter will come from one of nine Brazilian accelerators slated to join the Start-Up Brasil initiative and accelerate selected companies for a period of three to 12 months.
Proposals for the inaugural edition of Start-Up Brasil are now being accepted, and inscriptions will remain open until May 31st. Companies from Brazil and abroad are welcome to apply; however, foreign entities should take note that they will be expected to establish a long-term presence in the country. The selected startups will be announced in June.
Startups will be expected to apply through one of the nine Start-Up Brasil accelerators and are advised to do their research prior to selecting the organization.
