With the partnership, consumers who pay through PayPal will receive extra cash rewards that can be collected through PayPal credit or by way of gift cards. According to the press release announcing the partnership, PayPal users will receive Poup’s normal cash back amount (up to 12% of purchases) plus an extra 10%.
More details on discounts and retailers can be found on the Poup website.
We first met Poup at the beginning of this year as well as the company’s founder, Gustavo Gorenstein. At the time, Gorenstein told us that Poup’s biggest challenge was convincing consumers that “Poup is for real.” This PayPal deal will likely help the company go a long way in that endeavor.
It is also worth noting that this isn’t the only PayPal partnership that’s been announced as of late. In January, the company also announced a deal with Wayra entailing a wide range of benefits for the accelerator’s e-commerce startups.
