With just a few weeks left to go in 2013, Telefónica accelerator Wayra is already looking forward to 2013. It has revealed the identities of five startups with which it will work at Wayra Academy Brazil in São Paulo next year.
Already active in numerous cities throughout Latin America, Wayra opened the doors of its São Paulo division in July of this year. It subsequently began seeking startups to form part of its 2013 class, and after evaluating 11 finalists, selected five:
Bov Control, a management tool that collects and consolidates data on livestock herds.
Gengibre, a voice-based social network that turns spoken word into tweets.
OvermediaCast, an analytics tool for online video that monitors user engagement and access. The company recently announced a partnership with Brazilian video platform Videolog.
ProfDeaf, a technology for the deaf that translates spoken language into sign language.
Propietário Direto, a social network for the housing market that connects sellers with potential buyers.
Each of the five startups selected will receive US$50,000 (R$100,000) from Wayra as well as workspace, infrastructure, management, mentoring and other support. They will spend 10 months at Wayra Academy São Paulo.
