Entrepreneurship, technology, investment and a little bit of rock and roll – that’s what the organizers of this year’s Slumdog Beta are promising.
Set to be held next Tuesday, November 27th, Slumdog Beta is an opportunity for the members of São Paulo’s vibrant tech ecosystem to meet, network, and share their products and services in an informal and relaxed setting. This will mark the second edition of the event, which was formerly called SP Beta. This year’s theme is Place Your Bets.
The highlight of Slumdog Beta will be the startup competition, during which 10 companies will present. Attendees will be invited to vote for their favorites, and at the close of the day, the winners will be announced. All participants will receive prizes, and the top three startups will be invited to attend and participate in the Brazilian Applications Seminar in April 2013.
Currently, 50 startups remain in the running to present at Slumdog Beta: 8E7 Mídias Interativas, Adlayer, Agendor, Apetitage, B2Blue.com, Beved, Brecho.me, BRIAN, Calite, Cinese, ClickARQ, Collact, Comprei e Nao Vou, Cookietrail, Daange, eiBOW, Epungo, Estou Jogando, EuDecido.com, Fretejet, Geeksys Serviços de Informática LTDA, goFidel, GPshopping, Guia EDEC, Imobee, Iuli shows colaborativos, Jánamesa, Logovia, MeuAniver, MeuResumo, Outitude, Pingmind, Promosfera, Proposital, Pusher, Qranio, QueroAgendar, Recruto, Reunii, Secretária Web, SitePX, Spotwish, Stayfilm, Tag Box, TagPet, Tracksale, Unbound, Urbana Bicicletas, Veduca and Willbot. The 10 finalists will be announced on Thursday.
Beyond the startup competition, Slumdog Beta will include other elements for attendees to enjoy. With the Barracas de Limonada (Lemonade Stand) sector, gastronomy entrepreneurs will be given a space to market and sell their dishes and delicacies. In the Service Alley, four companies offering related startup-related services – NR-7 Comunicação, Baptista Luz Advogados, GAAP Auditores e Consultores and BRAPPS – will set up stands to meet with potential clients and partners. And in the Time is Money Lounge, ten tables will be set aside and reserved for hour-long meetings between entrepreneurs and investors.
Slumdog Beta will commence at 7:00 p.m. at Espaço 7010 in São Paulo. Tickets are on sale now and can be reserved here. And, of course, make sure to keep an eye out for the announcement of the 10 startups selected to present.
