Startup Weekend took place this weekend in Recife. The members of one of Brazil’s leading technology communities came together to participate in the local edition of the international event, the organizers of which aim to promote fast action, collaboration and leadership in technology and entrepreneurship around the world.
Conecta.la served as the site for the three-day meetup. After a few welcoming remarks, pitches for ideas began. Teams were then formed around six projects: a domestic finance tracker, a recycling app, a weight loss crowdsourcing platform, an educational platform for young adolescents, a medication reminder, and a virtual DJ based in the cloud.
Participants worked together for 54 hours to get their brand new startups off the ground. Startup teams were accompanied by mentors, coaches and technology professionals in building their products, which they presented to the SUP Recife audience and judges on Sunday.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to hear from two of Brazil’s youngest and most successful leaders: Tallis Gomes, Founder of Easy Taxi, and André Ferraz, CEO of Ubee.
Startup Weekend Recife was a prime opportunity for the city’s entrepreneurs, developers and engineers to stretch their startup muscles and get hands-on experience. Find out more about the goings on after the event here.
