2012 National Science and Technology Week in Brazil Begins on Monday

Brazil’s National Science and Technology Week (Semana Nacional de Ciência e Tecnologia – SNCT)  is upon us. The event will kick off next Monday, October 15th.

Organized by the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, SNCT has been celebrated annually since 2004. Last year, roughly 16,000 activities took place in a total of 654 Brazilian municipalities. This year, there are already more than 17,500 activities planned.

Focus on Green Economy, Sustainability and Poverty Eradication

The theme of this year’s National Science and Technology Week is Green Economy, Sustainability and Poverty Eradication. Throughout the week, strategies and solutions will be explored for approaching the issues via technology and innovation. The theme was inspired by Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development that was held in Brazil in June.

All SNCT events are absolutely free of charge for attendees. Those interested in taking part can seek out activities by state, city and institution here.
