Locamob is Now Available for iPhone, Headed for Windows Next

Locamob is now available for the iPhone. The company officially launched its application for iOS today.

Out of Brazil, Locamob connects consumers with small businesses, aggregating reviews and personalized recommendations and also providing information about nearby deals and sales. It was founded by Felipe Trevisan and Vitor de Mesquita, who began working on the idea in 2011, and is backed by Airbnb co-founders Christian Gessner and Stefan Schimenes.

The launch of its iOS application marks an important step for Locamob in connecting with more users and helping small businesses expand their reach by helping them develop what is often their first and only presence online in Brazil.

“The launch of the iPhone application is essential so that we, along with our users, may create highly relevant and personalized content, molding content to each user and adopting it to their routines so that, with time, we can offer them benefits in their favorite places,” said Vitor de Mesquita, Locamob CEO.

Locamob is currently the only application in Brazil that aggregates local reviews from main local listings (Apontador, Trip Advisor, etc.) and is also fully connected with Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare. At 6.1 MB, it is one of the lightest location-based applications in the App Store, and its real-time chat option proves appealing to users across the board.

Company CTO Felipe Trevisan pointed out, “According to a study performed by Google and IPSOS, 92% of smartphone users in Brazil use their devices to search for local businesses. Our focus with smartphones isn’t just on our applications but also on a 100% responsive design, in other words, optimized functions on all platforms and devices, whether PCs, tablets or phones.”

Since we first met Locamob in August of last year, the company has continued work on its online platform and rolled out applications for Android and iOS. A Windows 8 app is on the horizon as well.

Currently, the Locamob platform features more than 700,000 businesses, 100,000 opinions and 50,000 photos. Soon, the company will launch packages to help small businesses increase the visibility of their products and services online.
