Campus Party Recife is set to set to start in just a couple short hours, following weeks of buzz and preparations. Marking the first time the event will be held in Brazil outside of São Paulo, Campus Party Recife will play host to 2,000 attendees from today until Monday and take place at the Pernambuco Convention Center and Chevrolet Hall.
A number of major players in the regional technology ecosystem will be in attendance, including Facebook Latin America VP Alexandre Hohagen and Lemon leader Bel Pesce. One major focus of the conference will be that of entrepreneurship, with sessions and debates surrounding web trends, business models and innovative ways to seek investment.
Many attendees will also participate in the Wayra Contest and check out Geeks on Campus. And a select few startups and projects that present at Campus Party will likely be selected to work with C.A.I.S. do Porto or Portomídia, the two incubation programs of Recife-based technological park Porto Digital.
Campus Party Recife will offer free programming through Zona Expo (Expo Zone) as part of its digital inclusion initiative. The area will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. to the public, starting tomorrow and lasting until Sunday. Free courses will be set up on a variety of topics – those interested should write inclusaodigital@campus-party.com.br to find out more. Various fun and interesting events will take place, such as Epic Nerd Fights (a sort of battle of the geeks) and The Web on the Couch (as stated in their official site, the therapy sessions are being hosted by web celebrities).
Tickets to Campus Party Recife sold out two weeks ago, so the free activities offered by Zona Expo will be very valuable to those who missed out. If you’re in the Recife area over the weekend, you should definitely head in that direction – you can find more complete information on free Zona Expo activities here.
