PedidosYa Launches Operations in Venezuela

PedidosYa has launched operations in Venezuela.

Founded in 2010, PedisosYa is one of Latin America’s leading online food delivery startups and has a presence in eight countries in the region – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and, now, Venezuela. It works with over 5,000 restaurants from which users can order through the PedidosYa web platform or by way of its mobile apps (iOS and Android). Funding from Kaszek Ventures has played a key role in the company’s expansion.

PedidosYa has commenced operations in Venezuela with more than 100 restaurants for users to choose from, including international chains Subway and Papa John’s. “Venezuela is a big market with an ample gastronomic variety and high rates of consumption. We researched the market and found a great opportunity to offer our service to Venezuelan consumers,” said Ariel Burschtin, PedidosYa CEO.

Growth Rates High in Brazil, Mobile Business

Latin America’s food delivery industry grows at a rate of 12% annually as a whole. For PedidosYa, however, the speed of expansion may be even greater – especially in specific markets.

The company is developing fastest in Brazil, where it boasts a growth rate of 40% each month. It has operations in major cities São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Curitiba as well as 20 cities in the interior of the state of Sao Paulo, and its users can now order from over 1,500 Brazilian restaurants and eateries.

PedidosYa has also found success in the mobile realm, its app having received more than 200,000 downloads. The company revealed that orders through its iPhone and Android applications already account for 20% of its business.
