TV, Social Media & The Second Screen: Tuilux to Launch TTV


Tuilux, a company that provides intelligent recommendation services to virtual environments, has received funding from Astella Investimentos. The company revealed to Brazilian publication Startupi that the investment will be used to launch TTV, a platform that measures television-related activity on the “second screen” – computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.

TTV will provide both quantitative and qualitative social media insights on over 15,000 television programs from nearly 100 Brazilian television channels. It has the capacity to capture over six million posts per month from various social platforms, tracking viewer participation by way of number of posts and shares, most common words used and the nature of the opinions expressed.

With this new product, Tuilux will aim to establish a place in an area with great potential. Social media is hugely prevalent in Brazil, and technology penetration is increasing at a high rate. An estimated one out of every six Brazilians already watches television while interacting simultaneously on a second screen – a statistic that will surely increase.

The concept for TTV has been in the works for quite some time now. Helder Knidel, CEO of Tuilux, elaborated, “Data analysis researchers, alongside TV and advertising specialists, have been working on the design of the service with Tuilux data since January of this year. TTV emerged from the frontier of knowledge in big data in the context of television.”
