Today, Baby.com.br launched Dinda, the first online buying club in Brazil specializing in products for babies, children and mothers. The site will offer the most sought-after items from the Baby catalog at a discounted price of up to 70%.
Dinda will market new products purchased directly from international and national manufacturers and distributors. Product offers are categorized into prenatal care, strollers, bedding, bath toys and maternity wear. New promotions for brands and products will become available on the site every four days – availability of items will depend upon stock.
Davis Smith, co-founder and CEO of Baby, commented on the company’s new endeavor:
As the father of two daughters, I know that finding children’s clothing at a reasonable price in Brazil is difficult. My wife and I have always been big fans of flash sale businesses, which offer products from great brands at discounted prices. Here in Brazil, a company that does that for mothers, children and babies has never existed. Dinda.com.br is the first Brazilian business to offer flash sales exclusively dedicated to this niche. We are excited about offering our clients the best selection of products for their families at lowered prices.
Baby is a leading e-commerce platform in Brazil for all things baby. It recently closed an investment round worth US$16.7 million with funds from Accel Partners, Tiger Global, Valor Capital Group, Menlo Ventures, Greenoaks Capital Management and Chamath Palihapitiya. When we spoke with Smith a few weeks ago, he indicated that the company would likely be shifting into other areas within the Brazilian children’s market niche – we can only assume he had Dinda on his mind.
