Upcoming events for the Brazilian market

Last week most of the entrepreneurship news in the Brazilian market involved Campus Party. The 5th edition of this event took place in São Paulo and gathered over 7,500 attendees (the “campuseiros”) with hundreds of activities from lectures, panels to a startup reality show.

Here is a list with some featured opportunities in the upcoming weeks.

Innovation Panel by Endeavor

After organizing a smaller panel with entrepreneurs last year, Endeavor launched the first edition of  the Innovation Panel, taking place on March, 15 in Rio de Janeiro. The organization will select 10 startups to pitch their businesses for local and international investors, accelerators and specialists. Fernando Reinach (Pitanga Fund) and Ozires Silva (Embraer’s founder) are confirmed speakers. The deadline is February, 18. For additional information and to apply (free), visit the event’s website.

Angel Investing

CIEE (a center for schools and companies integration) is promoting a lecture about “Angel Investing and how it supports entrepreneurship” by Cassio Spina, leader of Anjos do Brasil (Angels of Brazil, an association to foster Angel Investing in Brazil). Each attendee will receive a copy of his book Investidor Anjo: Guia Prático para empreendedores e investidores (Angel Investor: practical guide for entrepreneurs and investors). The event takes place on February, 28. Visit here to apply (in Portuguese).

Mobile Premier Awards

All AppCircus winners from all all over the world will compete for the best app of the year on February 27, in Barcelona, at Mobile Premier Awards. The event happens during the Mobile World Congress and have 47 confirmed apps. The best 20 apps were already selected and will be pitching on the stage, including The Incredible Circus, the winner of AppCircus in São Paulo (featured here).

Initially developed for Symbian, the Windows Phone version is probably going to be launched on the stage of Mobile Premier Awards. Last week, during the Campus Party Brazil, Julien Fourgeaud (Rovio’s Product Management and Business Development) have tried the beta version for this platform and apparently enjoyed the game.

As featured here, the stage will have 3 more competitors from Latin America: No te passes (Mexico), The Social Radio (Argentina) and The Hand (Colombia). You can check the jury members in the MPA’s website.

I will be in Barcelona the whole week and I’m expecting to hear good news from both events.
